Kids Are Priceless!!!

OK, I know it's been a looooooong time since I have posted anything. I've been out of the groove and I have no excuse execpt laziness.

So here's a story that I've been told by many to write down to be sure to remember it for years to come.

First a little background. Every year our school (GCS) does a huge fundraiser called the Grace Race. It's been going on since I was in school at Grace. I think this is the 24th Annual race this year. So each class does something unique and special to reach their goal for their class. Well, the 3rd grade class does a wax museum. The way this works is this; the student reads a book on a well-known person in history (They learn some history and get a grade either for history or English, I'm not sure). Anyway, then once the book is read they create notecards, costumes and speech to be given to the class and ultimately to the entire school in the form of a wax museum. It's a really cool idea!! On the day of the wax museum each student in the school can come to the museum, drop a coin in the bucket and get a brief history report on the character that the student is pretending to be.

Well, Logan decided to do his report on Colin Powell. On Sunday afternoon he was reading his book and started to tell us about how the kids in Colin's neighborhood divided into two different types of people, "those who did drugs" and "those who didn't do drugs". Well then he tell us that there was a third catagory and that was the friends that became "mutes". With great curiousity I asked how he had come to that conclusion and his answer was, "... the book said that some of his friends he never heard from again!" Trying not to laugh Mark and I explained that what the book meant was that he maybe lost contact with them and didn't know exactly what happened to them.

We have had several laughs since then (in private of course).

I hope you enjoyed that because I know I did.

We have dogs!!!! Two of them to be exact. They are adorable.

They belonged to some elderly ladies that lived with each other. One of the ladies passed away recently and the other could not take care of herself let alone two dogs and had to move to TX to be closer to her son's family for care. They came to us via Jim (my boss).

Their names are Waldo and Maggie. Waldo is 8-years-old and Maggie is 5-years-old. Maggie is the grey and white one and Waldo is tan and white.

I can't believe it!!! Hunter is 12. We had a really fun time. He wanted to watch Star Wars Episode III for his party. Soooo I decided to turn our house into a movie theatre and our kitchen into a snack bar. Each invitation that was sent out had a movie ticket and coupons for free pizza, candy, pop and popcorn. When it was time for each part of the evening the boys had to show their coupon to get their stuff. It was fun. Here are a couple of pictures to prove it.

OK, so for those of you who didn't get the email, I have my eye surgery scheduled for this Wednesday the 2nd of November for the right eye and two weeks later on the 16th is the left eye.

I so excited, a little anxious too. Please keep me in your prayers. I'll update as I can.

My mom goes in for her eye surgery today at 2:30p.m. I'm so excited to see how it goes for her since I'm next. With this surgery she will never have to wear glasses or contacts again!! That's so awesome.

New Adventures

I just wanted to update everyone on what activities the boys are into this school year. Logan has joined the Boy Scouts. He is a "bear". All his buddies from school and his baseball team are in his pack so he's having a blast.

Hunter has begun playing in the school orchestra. He is one of two percussionist. He's learning how to play the "bells" first and he also has a snare drum. He hasn't taken that to school yet.

Here are a couple of pics taken on my mom's camera on her cell phone. They aren't the greatest but they will have to do for now until we get a better photo taken.

First Day of School - 2005

Well the boys started back to school last Thursday. My busy weekend prohibited me from blogging the events until now. Every year we take a picture of the two of them by the front door so we can compare the growth over the years. When we first started it Logan's head didn't even reach the bottom of the light switch and now you can barely see the switch behind him.

Yesterday was my mom's birthday. As some of you know she is getting ready to have eye surgery to correct her vision, so Gwen called me on Saturday and said she'd like to suprise her on her actual birthday by showing up with some of her friends (all wearing glasses) and watch her favorite movie, The Diary of a Mad Black Woman. So about 7:30p.m. last night they all showed up, glassess in tow and boy was she surprises!! We had a great time. The movie was great and the "Ding Dong" cake from Merrit's took care of our chocolate fix. Here are a couple of pics with us in our glasses.

An Answer to Prayer!!!

I am so excited to bring this news to you. For years I have wished I could have some type of corrective surgery for my vision. For a long time I felt that faith wasn't big enough to believe for a healing and that bothered me. Then a couple of years ago Richard Roberts was preaching at our church and said something simular. What he said next set me free. He said that after years of believing and praying for a supernatual healing he finally decided that having lasik was God's way of giving him that healing.

Well, I went to the eye doctor for a check up and he told me about a surgery that I was definitely a candidate for but didn't know if my insurance would cover it. Well I went back yesterday and they did the test that would let them know if I qualified for insurance coverage on the proceedure.

I QUALIFY!!! I'm so excited! I will have to wear my glasses for 3 months since I've worn contacts for so many years. Basically, I have to wear them 1 month for every 10 years of contacts. So beginning August 1st I will wear them until the end of October. I will go in to the doctor again for monitoring to make sure that my eyes are stabilizing with the glasses and if all goes well I will hopefully have the surgery sometime in November or December.

I ask that you agree with me that my eyes will do what they are suppose to do to stabilize. I'll keep you "posted" as I progress.

One week from today we will be in the air on our way to Hawaii. One of the girls going with us has never been. She's already packed and ready to go. I told her last night that Logan has joined her club. He keeps saying, "I can't wait 'til we leave for Hawaii!"

Well, we were a little rusty last night and therefore we lost. Thankfully, we started out in the double-elimination round so we are still "alive". We play again on Saturday night at 6:00p.m. We'd love to see you if you can come out.

So what summer movies have you seen? Hunter and I went to see Madagascar last night. It was pretty cute. The last movie I saw in the theater before that was Star Wars Episode III. It was pretty good. I've rented several from Blockbuster. Let's see there was, Shall We Dance, In Good Company, Are We There Yet?, Mickey, & Mr. 3000. I know there are more but I just can't think of them right now.

If you have any reccommendations let me know. I hear Hitch came out yesterday. Can't wait to see it.

Just Another Day at the Office!

OK, OK I know it's been a couple of days since my last post. Give me a break I've been at kids camp and then had to come back to the office to catch up on everything that went on while I was gone. I'm finally done with that and had a minute to catch up on all my friends blogs and update mine.

My boys got out of school last Friday. They have been very busy so far. Right now they are playing on computers at my office. They have to come with me a couple of times this summer. We are going to church camp next week and we are going to Hawaii in July.

I'm sooo proud of my kids!! Last Tuesday night was their awards night and they both received the highest honor award. It's called the "Christian Citizenship Award". In the program this award was described as "given to male and female students in each class who have best displayed such Christian characteristics as, honest, respect, obedience, kindness, self-control, love, and understanding."

They are my pride and joy.

The music teacher at the Grace told my mom the cutest story today. She was teaching Hunter's class about the different kinds of instruments. When she got to the voice as an instrument she was telling the kids that there are different catagories like soprano, alto, tenor, etc. In describing the soprano voice she turned to Hunter and asked if his grandma was a soprano. His response was, "I don't know?!?" She then told him that the soprano was usually called "the diva". He then said, "Yep, that's my grandma!!"

Garage Sale!

Cotton Candy Crazy!!!

My friend Rachel came to help us out today at the office making Kookie Poofs Cotton Candy. The company I work for Poppin' Glows produces awesome cotton candy. The freshest I've ever tasted. You can pick one at your local QuikTrip for about $1.50.

They actually come in flavors. This is something rare for coton candy. The Pink has a vanilla flavor, the blue has a raspberry flavor and the purple has a berry flavor. They are very good and hard to resist.

Thanks Rachel for all your help! You're a quick study and we love that about you. Anytime you need work you know who to call.

Well, it's almost summer and I needed a new "do". It's simular to what I've had in the past but I added bangs. I haven't had bangs in probably 5 years.

My hair dresser Jodi Trotter of Sculptures did it for me. She is awesome!! In case your interested her salon is located on 61st street between Mingo and Memorial. She does a great job. If you are interested in seeing her let me know and I'll give you her number.

What are you thankful for?

There are many things in my life I am thankful for. God has been so good to Mark and me. It wasn't too long ago that I was miserable with several things in my life. But God is good!! We have a great close-knit group of friends that we hang out with and share a lot of common interests. We thought for a while that there was something was wrong with us because it seemed as if every couple we would start to get to know better ended up moving away. We started to put up a guard and only become so close with them because we didn't want to get hurt or be disappointed.

Those days are far behind us now!! We are thankful for our friends, Chris & Melissa, Neil & Therese, Chris & Linda and Ben & Kathryn!! And of course I can't forget to mention the couple that has know us the longest and know the most secrets about us, Brian and Rachel. We love you guys!!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter!! We did. Gwen & Steve, Mandy & Seth and Great Grandma came over for a huge turkey dinner with all the wonderful sides. Mandy made a wonderful dessert that was so pretty we had to take a picture.

OK, I know Halloween is over but I found this picture in my pictures file and I just think it's pretty cute. Besides, I didn't want Logan to feel left out by not having a picture of him on my new blog!

This picture was taken at the Hallelujah Party last October. Logan went as Sora from the Kingdom Heart video game, Josh (the boy on the left) came as a pirate, and Stephen (the boy on the right) came as a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle. These boys are pretty good buddies and love to hang out together. They practically do everyting together; school, church, baseball. You get the picture.

The Bixby Eagles won their 2nd pre-season tournament game last night. The final score was 10-6. We are well on our way to the Championship round!! I LOVE BASEBALL. I was so proud of Hunter, he smacked the ball into right field without even trying. He said later that he was just trying to duck out of the way of the ball and wasn't really even trying to hit it. I was shocked because it went so far. It was awesome! If any of you are interested we play again on Saturday at 1:00p.m.
